About

SHYGthoughts is a blog for the Senior High Youth Group from New Life Lutheran Church.

We’re going through the New Testament together and learning how to study the Bible. Every Monday through Friday, we’ll be reading for 5-10 minutes, and each day one of us will be posting our thoughts on that day’s passage.

Anyone, whether from our Youth Group or not, is invited to leave their thoughts and comments!

If you want to read along with us, shoot us an email at josh@nlelc.com to get a copy of the schedule. Everyone is welcome to join us or to leave comments!

  1. Good news – Full moon. Bad news – it’s raining. Better news – God!!!!

    WOW! So in the first section, Peter and John went to the temple and outside a crippled man was begging for money. He continued to beg as Peter and John passed, but then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Peter had no money to give the man, but with the power from Jesus, he was able to heal this man. In my bible (yes, the quizy one) it says “In life, we often ask for too little. Catching a few coins would’ve made this man’s day. But he didn’t dare ask for what he really needed.” This is so true. We often ask for things that are unnecessary or that are the easy way out, when we should really be asking for God’s healing and guiding touch. It also reminds me of the quote, “give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, but teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.” If we ask to be tought how to “fish” God will teach us, but we first need to ask for it. (Idk if that makes any sense to anyone but me?) Then the man went with Peter and John to spread the word and to praise God!!

    In the second section, people see this man walking, the man who was always crippled and begging for money and they were astonished. The people were surprised, but Peter told it to them, that it was God’s touch that had healed this man. He then goes on to tell the people that although they killed Jesus, God brought him back and “it is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him.” Point for God! Peter goes on to explain to the people that since Jesus suffered, they are able to change their ways, repent and go to God. He will forgive their sins and wipe them clean and he will do the same for all of us. =) Isn’t that great?!!

    BEV =)
